FLINT (WJRT) - (11/23/15) – He’s been on the run for months, wanted by the police for murdering a man over a parking spot.
Now, this dangerous fugitive is behind bars after police found him hiding out 1,000 miles away.
Dominick Wright was brought back from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Flint, where he faces serious charges – including murder.
The search for Wright started in May during a memorial gathering on Flint’s north side.
Investigators said Wright shot and killed 36-year-old Jermaine Moore because of where he parked.
Wright soon became a fugitive, along with Tauteece McCaskill, who police say drove the getaway car.
Police thought they had them cornered the next day at Flint’s Atherton East neighborhood, but Wright was long gone.
He was able to get to a home in Oklahoma to hide out with a man he knew from Flint.
“He had help from outside sources. He had a girlfriend that was trying to throw us off the trail and also help him flee the state,” said Det./Tpr. Nate Horan, of the Michigan State Police.
For the next five months, police worked closely with the FBI to try to track him down. A tip from Crime Stoppers lead Michigan State Police detectives to him.
“We really got our breakthrough with a Crime Stoppers tip. Then, we were able to triangulate his position down to Tulsa, Oklahoma and get some teams involved to do surveillance,” Horan said.
